I bought 2 boxes of Krispy Kreme for KL a couple of months back. We had so much, we wanted to vomit, so we had to bin the rest.
Looking back at this picture makes me want to have just one more.

I bought 2 boxes of Krispy Kreme for KL a couple of months back. We had so much, we wanted to vomit, so we had to bin the rest.
Looking back at this picture makes me want to have just one more.
We have been watching a whole lot of movies lately.
- Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (more like Keira Knightley’s non-existence chest)
- The Pink Panther (hilarious slapstick, no brain required)
- Inside Man (usual bank robbery storyline but no one was hurt)
- The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (not too impressed. Thought that the CG is too stale)
- Taepung (Korean movie) (supposed to be the most expensive movie, maybe for hiring translators)
- The Notebook (romantic tear jerking show. I couldn’t stop crying for the rest of the night)
- Grilled (strange show and rather fustrating)
- Everything is Illuminated (KL read the book, I didn’t. Interesting movie tho)
- Nanny McPhee (love this kids show. Happy ending made me cry)

I miss home.

I moved into a office overlooking a busy street (imagine Shenton way). Everyday I see stupid people who can’t bloody park properly. *sigh…
Its post exams. I went on a shopping rampage and did some serious damage. But in my defence, it was all good buys plus I haven’t shopped for over a month or maybe more.
Friday, during lunch time, I spent $119 on a red trench coat + a skinny leg jeans. Too lazy to photograph.
Saturday, KL HAD (all his fault) to have lunch at the shopping district of our neighbourhood and I bought:

A pair of earrings which its really out of character for $20. GL, nice or not?

Then I bought some junk from BodyShop so I can “manage” my stress at work. A foot thingy and a roller thingy for my shoulders.

Sourced a really cute corduroy capris from Witchery on sale from 89.95 to 29.95. WooHoo!!!

And before the shops closed, I got a girlie cardi from FCUK on sale at 49.95. Yes, for some weird reason, I wear XS in this country.
Today, I bought 2 work skirt for 19.90 each and a long knitted cardi for 34.90.
Yes, I still haven’t lost my “groove”, just lesser money in the bank. Fortunately, its pay day this coming week.
This post is back dated.
On the morning of my birthday, I got to sleep in. Took the day off and the night before, had a fantastic Korean dinner with KL and Co. Plus, well wishes from the girls in the office which includes a Birthday Card.

Co got me these - Mimco Pacific Opal Studs. I love it, and nearly bought it. It’s great that she remembered and got it for me. So sweet of her altho I think it’s a bit expensive. KL thinks the stud is too big for me, but I haven’t found the right occasion to wear it out yet.
I digress. We started the morning with yummy brekkie at our favourite cafe but I was nervous and couldn’t really finish my food. Thats because, right after that, we were going to head to the tattoo parlour. Yikes! Anyway, we didn’t go there right after brekkie coz I had to go home to *ahem… sit on the throne. Its my nerves I tell you.
Anyway, as I sat at tattoo place alone coz KL was going to pay for my tat. I was nervous and text BS. Prior this day, I told BS and GL that I wanted to get a tattoo and BS call me bluff while GL thought I was doing thru a mid-life crisis since I was hitting the BIG 3 O. And GL wanted to talk about it as she seemed pretty disapproving, but unfortunately, she went on her travel before we could talk. And if GL knows that we (KL & myself) only confirmed the design the night before, she might flip.
Actually, KL was also uncertain about my tat idea. Coming from a person who already have 2. His idea is that one should take about 1 year to think about getting a tattoo and another year to finalise the design. Although I have been thinking of getting a tattoo for a long long time, the thought only materialised 1 week ago and the design finalised the night before. *heh.

Stupid BS kept telling me that its so painful, I might faint. I was worried. It was bearable. Actually to be honest, quite shoik. Hahaa… now i know why some people are so obsessed with getting more than one tat. But I think I would stop at one. According to KL’s research, the tat palour is quite popular and famous. My tat artist is from Canada and asked me about citizenship and all. How strange.

I used the same font as KL’s and he designed the butterfly for me. I guess the butterfly signifies me leaving home and reminds me of dad keeping caterpillars for me so that I can watch them evolve from pupa to butterfly. Somehow, it also reminds me of the time when BS, GL and me went to the zoo and we were 3 goondus pointing our fingers at the butterfly hoping it will land on my finger.
Anyway, I did it. At a fine age of 30. Well, at least I can’t say that I was young and foolish when I had my tattoo. Besides, its unique and definately original - not some random picture I picked out from the folder.
“Btw, love your pictures… for some reason your icon pictures always tell a story. i like that. and it always looks happy. nothing cool, nothing wannabe, just always story pictures that look so happy. nice to see whenever i turn my mac on. cheers.”

Went to the Tour de France Luncheon today. It was quite interesting totally different from the other Business Luncheons I’ve been too. It was also the same one that my Senior Manager won the 2 business class air tickets to France last year.
Although I was didn’t win any great prizes, I did win the table gift (as pictured). I didn’t exactly see what was inside except for a couple bottles of marmalade and magazines when I was there. At home, I emptied the contents and showed KL. Some rather interesting things includes, bicycle tubes, bicycle flash light, jams, marmadale, official tour de france sovernirs, Lonely Planet’s Cycling France book, Bicycle magazines, pair of movie tickets, evian, Renault toy car, Dijon mustard, French dressing, etc.
The one thing that caught my eyes were a bar of chocolate which read: “HOT MASALA”. Milk Chocolate with Masala?

I’ll report soon on the taste. I wish there are more business luncheons like this more often. Oh, by the way, I had 4 glasses of wines *hic
Tuesday was our date night. Co asked me why must date night since there is only the 2 of us. I had to explain that on our wedding anniversary, KL asked me how have the one year been. I said, “Like that lor. No difference.” Then we realised that maybe being together for over 10 years kind of killed the “newlywed/honeymoon stage”. In fact, we haven’t been to our Honeymoon yet - unless you count going back to Sunnyland.
We discussed that we should spend more couple time together. I find that rather amusing because there is honestly only the 2 of us in the household and all other family members are in Sunnyland. Anyway, KL decided that we should have date nights regularly so that we can have a little more sparks in our love life.
Because I used to joke that on our first movie date (10 years ago), KL made me pay for my own movie tickets, so I told Co that I probably have to withdraw some money just in case, KL wanted to go Dutch again. Hehee… joke aside. The Date went alright. We went to Fridays for dinner followed by a moive - Pirates of the Caribbeans. Yes, you read it right. Of all movies right? The movie was long and draggy. By the time we got home, we were tired and wanted to shower and go to sleep. Well, not exactly the perfect date night but I know KL tried.
I don’t know how long this date night novelty would last but I do hope we get to do it more often.
p/s: Nope, he paid for everything except my choc-top.
This post is back dated.
On KL’s birthday, the 25th May, we went out for a yummy steak dinner at Vlado’s. The dinning experience was the best ever. The steak was far better.
The place was kind of difficult to spot with a little dark door in the middle of shopping heaven. The interior was spartan but it wasn’t the design of the place that caught my attention. It was the chef - Mr Vlado himself standing behind a glass screen doing what it seemed like “punching” the meat.
We sat on a small table with already 2 huge dinner roll on the table. We wasn’t given any menu or sort. The wall I was facing was the only wall in the whole place with wallpaper - wallpaper of cows STARING at me. But I wasn’t going to let that ruin my meat experience.
Within a couple of mins of sitting down, the stern waiter placed a bowl of what it seems like Coslaw on our table. It was quickly followed by a long thin sausage each as entree. Only one quarter into our sausage, came a oval plate of assorted meat. The waiter spoke too fast as if it was routine for him - “mini beef patties, calf meat, cow liver, pork/chicken,….” there was more than 2 items each so that we could each get to try them all. Trust me, at this point in time, we were nearly full.
Even before we could finish our entree + appetitzer + salad, another waiter came with a plastic tray of all the different cut of raw beef - Sirloin, Ribeye, Scot fillet, etc. I chose the smaller cut coz I didn’t think I would be able to finish my food, only to have KL laugh at my stupidity. Why? Coz bigger or smaller cut, we would have paid the same price. *ARGH!!!
I kept turning my head away to avoid the stares from the cows on the wall. Mr Valdos probably thought I was one of his regular and waved at me a couple of times. Finally, the steak came. First thing I noticed was that there was only the steak on the plate. Nothing else. No baked pototoes, brocolli or any other distraction. Okay, not like I can eat anything else, but it just looked really bare. The knife was probably too big for me to handle but the steak was easy to cut and the first bite was…..indescribable.
I think I might have tears in my eyes - okay, Drama Mama. But, its simply the best ever!
Anyway, its hard to describe the taste except that you will never look at a steak the same way ever again. Oh, KL couldn’t finish his steak because, Mr Birthday Boy ate the whole entire gigantic dinner roll and already reach his max. Hehee… I helped him with his steak. That statement was unbelievable. HAH!
Oh, we are not done yet. We still had dessert! It was a choice between Strawberries with Vanilla Ice cream or Pancake with Strawberries. So, we ordered both - to share!
At the end of the dinner, KL was holding his belly and I was just glad that it was winter and I have my outer coat which I would let my tummy hang inside without anyone noticing.
We will definately go there again even though the dinner was kind of pricy. I wanna bring Daddy there. Surely he will enjoy it.

Woke up to a bouquet of flowers today. My colleagues are the best.

Feeling the nerves. Tomorrow will be judgement day. Pray hard that everything goes well.
Rest in Peace, NS.
I’m exactly 1 week away from my exams and I’m high strung, sleep deprived, had numerous anxiety attacks, undernurish and so on.
GL and KL says that I’ve got phobia for exams. I agree with them. Since, KL has gone to the mountains to snowboard, I needed someone else to calm me down. Who else to call than the one who was there for all my academic exams - Daddy.
It was comforting to talk to him and he was reassuring. I know KL tries hard in that area but I guess, Daddys are still comforting at the end of the day. He says I’ve got phobia of failing exams - he is absolutely correct.
After one hour on the fone with him, I realised how much I misses him. Strangely, he was the reason behind my phobia.
This afternoon, my ex colleagues emailed me today to tell me that NS is in her death bed.
A couple of months after I left Sunnyland (May 2005) to come Melly, I received news that NS had some huge growth on the back of her head which turned out to be tumor. When I went back in November 2005, I called her and she told me that everything is okay then.
Months later, I received news that she was diagnosed with Leukemia but doing okay with treatment.
A couple of minutes ago, my ex-colleague, SK, told me that about 4 weeks ago, her stomach was bloated as if she was pregnant. The doctor drained the fluid out only to find more cancer cells at the last stage.
I’m feeling helpless and I do want to return back to see her, although I was told she is not that lucid. With exams in 2 weeks time, I know I can’t. Also, if she really do pass on, there will be no funeral wake as its part of her religion to be buried within 24hrs.
Just mentioned to GL that life is so unfair. NS is still young and she yet to see her kids grow up.
NS, I want you to know that you are my best drinking buddy and if there is anyone who can appreciate a good lewd joke, it would be you. I’m sorry, I can’t rush back to see you, but my thoughts are with you and your family. Miss you dearly. Till we meet again.

I was expecting mail frm GL and have been checking our little rusty mailbox for the last few day. I dashed out of the car today, only to open the squeaky mailbox to see a rather large envelope inside. Recognised GL’s handwritting and happily waved the envelope at KL and kept yelling, “Christopher!! Christopher!!”
Of course, KL had no idea what this loony bin is happy about, and I was too excited to say anything else other than “Christopher!! Christopher!!”
Reach home, dumped everything else on the floor and proceed to rip the brown envelope apart. In it, a touching letter about how much GL misses me (I MISS YOU TOOOOOOOO), a japanese brand mascara (which she swears by) and St Christopher magnet for Fifi.

KL looked at it and said, “Oh, Saint Christopher - Patron of Transportation”. I’m shock! KL even know who St Christopher is. GL, are you surprised too?
Yes, my friends have “such” faith in my driving.
*GL: where’s the blue tac to fix the magnet in Fifi?
Dad, who is having dinner with Aunty Lily, just called. Aunty Lily wants to know the exact day and time I’m having my exams - she wants to go to the temple to pray for me.
That is that much faith my family have in me. *roll eyes*
