Day 1 (Oct06)

Friday, October 20th, 2006

We woke up, dashed to Chaddy coz KL had to have his haircut before seeing his mother. (*please don’t ask!) Then rushed to near Jevon’s school to have brekkie before heading to his school to support him in his school project exhibition. Although it was supposed to be the first day opening to the public, it wasn’t even ready. However, we managed to catch a glimpse and then head home to pack.

We rushed to Aunty Stella’s place and reached the airport in time for us to pick a fight - KL began sulking and stressing about going back. Its times like this I really hate his family - especially his parents. ARGH!

Continue our fight even after the plane took flight. Okay, I’m decided that he will NOT ruin my holiday so I ignored him. The rest of the flight was pretty pleasant. I didn’t suffer from itchy nose until much later and also I didn’t notice the time too much maybe becoz I had a travelling companion and the movies were really interesting.

The moment we landed, I knew that KL was getting more tense. It didn’t help either when we saw his aunt and his mother waiting for us. My poor dad was stuck with the 2 aunties. There was some sort of disagreement how 5 adults with 2 golf bags and 2 luggages can squeeze in a normal family sedan. I’m glad to be in the cab with my parents while KL took his aunt’s car with his mother.

2 words - SMELLY & HOT!!!!

On the cab, I didn’t have that homesicky feeling I always have on the ECP. However, approaching home was different. Maybe that is because I nearly couldn’t believe how screw up the road home has become.

Met Uncle Boon and gave him chocs I bought specially for him. Only to be greeted with a nonchalant attitude. Dad told me that he asked when I’m be back to SunnyLand very often as if he was really concerned. Fuck him. I don’t think I care anymore.

We had our first meal near the make-shift market. We had ‘zoot-zhoot’, ‘la-la’, sting ray (RIP Steve-o), ‘orh lwah’, ‘zeechar noodles’. BS and NL came to my place and we hang for a while and I really need to bathe.

We only slept at 2am coz KL was amazed with the gazillion channel my dad subscribe to. Back in Melly, we only have 4 channels. No wonder he doesn’t want to sleep.

Tomorrow will be fun.

Maternal Instinct #106

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

I’m heading back to SunnyLand for a taste of the haze (hey, it rhymes) tomorrow and I’m not sure if I’m excited or not. Maybe its because I usually get such an overwelming welcome and now a few people can’t make it for airport or supper. Its disappointing, but understandable. Everyone have moved on and have their own life to lead.

I think I’m ovulating these few days coz KL thinks I’m getting frisky. Reading other people’s blog hasn’t really helped too. Not that the blogs I’ve been reading are getting more action pact but everyone is trying to get pregnant, are already pregnant or recently gave birth. Some even have some toddlers and having the time of their life.

I’m getting maternal. Maybe its meant to be at this age. Strangely, 10 years ago, I never wanted kids but now I’m thinking about it. KL has absolutely no interest in them simply because he thinks they are very expensive. It used to be that he didn’t want kids because he thinks that the world is degenerating and can’t stand the thought of our kids growing up in this world were are living in.

Everytime I talk about having kids, he always tell me that we have no money. I don’t know. We want too many things for ourselves iMacs, new camera, Gucci wallet, Chanel Sunnies, gorgeous house, and etc. I don’t think we’ll ever have enough money for kids. While we wait for some sort of a windfall, my ovaries might decide to retire and we’ll probably regret that we missed the boat.

BS called me today to chat a little and tells me that they have been trying to get pregnant but nothing yet. I guess that when once you decide that it is time, it may not come on demand. I hope NL gets pregnant and at least I have someone close to me that has a kid that I can play with.

I don’t know.

Losing $20

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

After dinner, I went out to empty the trash only to realised that the evening weather was great for long walk. I managed to get KL to go for a walk with me by tempting him with Ice Cream. So, the plan was to walk to Trampoline, check if they have Chocolate Theraphy, buy a tub and then walk all the way home. Mind you, its not a short walk.

I announced that I only had my mobile fone and $20 with me in my new sweater before we left home. Walking along the main road I dug into my pocket only to find that my $20 is missing. We had to back track all the way home just to look for my money. And since I feel like pai sai-ing, I told KL that we might as well head home. KL was half laughing at me for being so careless and declared that if he found the $20, its going to be his.

Feeling rather silly for losing money and cutting our walk abruptly, I was determined to find my money. Of course I found it. KL was too busy looking into other people’s home to be looking on the floor. *phew!

KL decided to continue our walk to Trampoline and delighted that I found my money, I didn’t feel like pai sai-ing anymore.

So, we walked to the ice cream place, got ourselves a tub of ice cream with the $20 and walked all the way home. Ice Cream sort of melted a little but who cares.

I hope we get to do more long walks together because I really do enjoy them. Of coz, next time, I’ll get KL to hold my money for me.

Ugly Footwear

Monday, October 16th, 2006

The Ugly Footwear Monster is back on the streets!

Nearly 10 years ago, I spotted a trend of wearing fugly white bandage oversize sandals on the streets. It got so popular that I had to find out what it was called - Birkenstock. I share this new discovery with dad only to find that that it was already way popular in his time along with Neckermann, which never really hit off with the young crowd (I fall under the same category).

I remember FF going insane with Birkenstock and had to order at Tanglin Shopping Centre because it was the ONLY retail shop then. I noticed the price tag and thought people would be insane to pay so much for such ugly footwear. Anyway, even though I thought the sandals were hideous, I saw too fashion savvy to know that I needed one pair at least. So, I got myself a fake-o one at Bugis Street for $15, probably 10% of the ridiculous price. Never found a right occasion to wear it and rather wear my heels instead. I probably only wore it to the market a couple of times. After a while, I sort of forgot about it and in my last trip back to SunnyLand, I threw the rusty disgusting fake-o Bikies out in one of my many spring cleaning.

This was the model I bought. For $15 =P

Then in the last 2 years I noticed that the general public was hit by the Ugly Footwear Monster again. This time, I know what it was - Crocs. In an instant, the floor of the streets was invaded by colourful plastic shoes that resemble those Dutch wooden clogs. Hideous footwear. Who cares if it’s super comfortable? In fact, I despise people wearing Crocs.

Okay, since I can’t be a critic without even trying it, I went to a local sports shop and force myself to try. Believe me when I say forced. I made sure no one was in sight to see me with those fugly shoes. Alright, it is light and comfortable. Lots of toe-room. But knowing me, I am the sort that “ai hiao mai mia” kind. Crocs are not for me.

KL agreed with me that Crocs are hideous but a couple of months ago, he ACTUALLY said, “maybe the black one won’t look that bad.” I nearly fainted.

Saturday, we went shopping and while CO was looking at Birkies, I blankly stared at some random girl trying a nice ballet flats. TO MY HORROR - it’s Crocs. And I tried the black, the gold and the silver. I LOVE IT!!! But for $39.95 for a pair of rubber plastic, I walked out of the shop empty handed.

crocs.jpg
*nice right?

On the way home, my little head was debating on the colours I should get. The silver looks great on me, but I probably could pass off the black as work shoes. Sunday morning, I had a brilliant idea - if SunnyLand is cheaper, I’ll get it even though I haven’t decided on the colour. So I went online and research. Only to discover that they have more colours in SunnyLand.

crocs2.jpg

FARK! I’m in love with the fuchsia hot pink. Now, I don’t know if I should get such a bright colour. My little head tells me, “Get the Bright Pink. That’s that Crocs are about - Bright Colours.” Then the other side of my head tells me, “Black is safer. Can even wear to work.” And then the back part of my brain says, “Silver! I already have a black and gold ballet flats.”

Sitting on my porcelain throne in the afternoon, I called BS. I knew he was the right person to call to check. Instantly, he guessed correctly that I’m only interested in the ballet flats. While on the fone with me, he popped into the shop and checked the price for me. After some xchange rate calculation - *sigh… same price.

I woke up today thinking about the bloody shoes that I might not wear THAT often anyway! CRAPS!

I seriously can’t believe it. I fell in love with a fugly pair of Crocs.

CSIRO Die-t

Friday, October 13th, 2006

KL and me been on the CSIRO diet and I have been sort of skipping lunch because of stress at work. I thought I was losing weight until Aunty Stella asked us to go to her place for dinner every other night. Her nanny (Thai) came for holiday and cooks FANTASIC dishes.

I think I’m bloody fat now! Shites! Was planning to lose some weight before going back so I can eat more in SunnyLand.

Fishing at Mornington

MorningtonFishing 013.jpg

Short post:
We went Fishing at Mornington with CT and her boyfriend today. We caught a few flat-heads but had to throw it back because it was too small. I think I nearly caught a huge-arse red snapper but it escaped. DAMN!

Btw, I’m enjoying the company of another couple. We need more couple friends.

Tulipfarm2.jpg

Yesterday we went to Tesselaar Tulip Festival. Again, we woke up late and rushed out of the house to get there.

The last time I went there, it was 2 years ago. I thought the last time was better, probably coz it was less crowded and more rows of tulips. Plus, this time round, there were a huge group of fucking tourists.

Okay, took lots of picture but the one above is simply my favouritest. I am pretty pretty and not fatty fatty.

Oh, after leaving the place, we chanced upon this park with hundreds of birds (mainly cuckatoo) and there were many people feeding them.

The picture don’t do justice to the amount of birds in the area. KL was of coz tigger happy.

Royal Melly Show 2006

Sunday, October 1st, 2006

Last year, I went to the Royal Melly Show with Noel and C and took loads of pictures. I thought I’ll never ever go again, simply because if you have been to one, you have been to all. But, KL and CO haven’t been there before so we sort of decided to go.

But last sat, I woke up late and grouchy and disappointed coz it was already past 10 in the morning and I thought it was too late to go to the Royal Melly Show. KL was patient with me and convince me to go anyway. So, we rushed out of the house to pick CO up and headed there.

The route to the show grounds were packed with cars heading the same direction as us. Cars were back to back and literally crawling. KL made a smart decision to leave the car at the side of the road and we took the tram to the destination instead. Poor KL was shivering with in the cold as he had forgotten to bring his coat rushing out of the house. Along the way, I decided to make a pit stop for lunch at Laksa King - our new favourite place (okay, MY new fav place!).

laksa king.jpg

All warmed up after lunch, we spotted a little petting pen at the side of the road (route to the show route) so I took some photos.

I wanted to go in to pet the animals but was too shy. I was staring at this cute boy following the chicken from one end to the next and finally corner the chickens just so he could feed them.

royal melb show 2006 002.jpg

We hopped on the tram and continued our journey. First stop was the livestock. CO and me was fasinated with this particular sheep that kept looking at us and allowing us to pet him. So, we fell in love with him and took loads of picture of him.

This is one with CO posing with the fella.

Then there was many daisys.

royal melb show 2006 007.jpg

And we were amazed by the size of the cows. Compare the cow and the man sitting behind.

20sept 032.jpg

OH, and I can’t believe they still brand the animals. Warning: not a pretty rear view!

royal melb show 2006 012.jpg

And there are horses, ponies and carriages on show.

royal melb show 2006 015.jpg

Of coz the highlight of the day was the Alpacas. They are simply the cutest. KL research and told me that they don’t like to be touch on the head and they often spit - Once a spitter, always a spitter. Anyway, I didn’t take much pictures of them because I was busy trying to touch them. Hahaa..

royal melb show 2006 037.jpg

Not the best picture of the alpaca but I love this little baby - she is so shy, she hid behind her mama.

The next picture was taken when we walked into an animal play pen. It was so weird, I didn’t see any animals and there was way too many people in there. Apparently, all the animals were cornered into the sides. Well, I thought these 4 boys were very well behaved. The animal helpers picked up some goats and plonk it on their laps. The black goat actually fell asleep.

royal melb show 2006 050.jpg

We didn’t get much show bags except for some interesting wine flavoured chocolates for the oldies back in SUnnyland and red rock deli chips. We ended the day when we saw this chicken balancing himself on the fence falling asleep. Its simply amazing.

royal melb show 2006 054.jpg

I think what people say is true. If you been to one royal show, you have been to all. Once is enough. I went twice.
