Queenscliff

Saturday, December 30th, 2006

We went Queenscliff today despite the jam. Had lunch at a very nice hotel and walked around town.

Sat at the jetty and watch people fishing. We waited for the sun to set and head for home.

Date Night

29dec06 054

We had a date night today.

windsor

We went Hotel Windsor.

windsor house

Check out the cool “English” telephone booth! Thats the hotel’s gingerbread house.

windsor queue

Since we were slightly early, there was already a crowd queuing to be seated.

windsor 111

The dinning area is so bourgeois with beautiful chandelier and immaculate table settings.

windsor hitea

This is a picture of the overpriced English hi-tea. The sandwiches are devine and the scones perfect.

windsor tea

The cream and jam for the scones were excellent too.

windsor toilet

Of course, I had to “visit” the washroom. I feel like a princess.

windsor bag

Oh, the toilet even have a nice stand for my clutch and sunnies while I do my thing.

parliament

I took this picture because I sometime wish that we took our wedding picture here.

greaterunion

After the overpriced hi-tea, we decided to catch Casino Royale at a Great Union - a crappy Cinema with chairs that somehow lost its spring and detactable seats. Movie is way too long and cheesy.

ito

Went dinner at a Japanese place. Thought we didn’t order enough food because we were staving at the end of a very long movie. As usual, only remember to take picture of after we have consume it.

After makan we walked into a quaint little bookshop bought a book and then went home.

Basically, to sum up, we had an overpriced hi-tea, then watched a super long movie at a crappy cinema, only to come out of the cinema shivering in hunger. Had Japanese, discovered a little book store and then paid $34 for parking (I nearly fainted). Not such a bad day after all.

Twila

twila.jpg

My productive cousin gave birth to her second child today. Her name is Twila. KL thinks its a black name. I just think it’s weird. My name is weird too. Who cares as long as no one calls her ‘tuala’ (malay for towel).

So, I’m an aunt again.

We went Ikea again today. Had a big fight and then went Ikea, although we went yesterday. We bought a bedside table for him yesterday and he insisted I get the same matching one too. I was happy with my mis-matched white disgusting looking bedside table and didn’t feel I needed to waste the money. Anyway, it was not the reason why we fight - I was PMSing, yet again.

So, since we had Ikea meatballs yesterday, we went out to have vietnamese beef noodles nearby instead. Nice place, except for the service. But I’m still impartial to my first love - Mekong.

Aiyah, thats not the point. We bought the bedside table home and I was still grouchy. KL was trying to assemble it while I was clearing out space in the old one to give it to CO. I became grouchier and feeling all sorry for myself, thank god, Mr CT text to tell us that the condition to go fishing was great. So, we went.

jetty1.jpg

With a plastic box of Butter chicken and brown rice for dinner, sitting at the jetty was most chaotic. Firstly, my plastic spoon flew away, and then my plastic cover. Then I had curry on my sleeves and jeans. It was so windy, KL’s line got tangled with someone elses. NOT funny!

sunset.jpg

Catching the sunset calmed me a little. It didn’t hurt when KL was sweet to me too.

With the sky getting dark and only a few bites but no fish, we headed home and made sweet love.

Superman Returns

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006

We were watching Superman Returns and I came up with a few bad jokes.

“When Superman have sex, is it fast as a bullet?”

Qns: “Superman’s weakness is Kryptonite. What is Batman’s weakness?”
Ans: “Batman’s weakness is Robin”

Okay, I think this show is damn value for money. It has Batman (Gotham City was mentioned) and X-men (Cyclops).

I still don’t get it, wear glasses look like a different person already?

Xmas eve 06

xmas06.jpg

This year, we had a quiet Christmas eve. KL made roasted chicken and salad, while I was busy finishing wrapping the last bit of presents.

xmas 06 salad.jpg

Don’t you think that the salad looks very christmasy?

Hoisin Salmon with Garlic Soba

salmon dinner 003.jpg

KL grilled Salmon brushed with Hoisin sauce served with soba seasoned with fried garlic. I steamed brocolli and carrots in the microwave.

That was dinner.

Company Xmas Party 06

Saturday, December 23rd, 2006

Yesterday’s office Christmas bash was the best.

Apparently, its the award winning every year. This year’s theme, is “Company Goes to the Musical”. There are 3 huge ballrooms and each has a theme - “Lion King”, “Priscilla Queen of the Desert” and “Rocky Horror Show”. In each room, there are also theme foods.

rocky.jpg

We went to the “Rocky Horror Show” room first. There was feather boas, glitter hats and costumed waiters. We ate ‘Bloody Bolognese pasta”, “Wormy noodles” and watch the Time Warp performance. Everyone else stayed but Boss wanted me to explore the other rooms, so we wandered to the biggest room - “Priscilla Queen of the Desert”.

There wasnt any performance there yet so we ate Lamb Chops, Corn on the cob, sausages. Mainly outback food. We got bored and went to the “Lion King” room.

lion king.jpg

There, we found the rest. We ate Lamb/Beef curries, cous cous, briyani, and waited for the performance. It was hilarious because one of the performer wore a very inappropriate spaghetti top and her boobs nearly popped out. So the boys were excited and kept yelling for more. Hahaa…

Soon, there were no more bouncing boobs; and we got bored so I went with Claire and the rest to the see Priscilla. Somewhere along the way, I lost my boss.

priscilla.jpg

I LOVE IT at the Priscilla Queen of the Desert! Although I have never seen the movie or even the show before and I love it. The music and drag queen performance is simply brilliant. We dance so hard and sang so loud, I think they must think we are both drunk. Okay, we probably had too much of champers anyway.

robbie.jpg

After the fantastic performance, we had a fake Robbie William perform. It was such turn off that I offered to get more drinks for the gang.

robbie2.jpg

It was damn crap. Already I find the real one sickening. This fake one is short with marker drawn tattoo. Look like meh?

Oh, one of my pretty colleagues went on stage to dance with him. *puke

Claire needed to go to the loo so we slowly made our way out and met people on the way and obviously stopped to chat and drank more. Somewhere along the way, we somehow made our way to the toilet. I don’t know what happened, but I was in the toilet cubicle with my glass of champers on the floor. Did I really bring my drink in? There were girls inside already puking. I was fine but you know when you hear someone puking, you sort of feel like puking along. Hahaa… too gross. Anyway, when I came out, I got myself a new drink and Claire wanted to go to the Rocky room to get feather boa.

karaoke.jpg

We were laughing so hard because, someone was belting really bad Michael Jackson music. Apparently, it became a Karaoke room. We found Boss there and sat with him. Claire wanted to go on stage to sing but I refused. Suddenly, some girls went up and sang “Dancing Queen” so Claire had to stand up and dance. Hahaa…

Soon after, we got bored and left the room to go back to Priscilla room. We stole a few disco balls and took lots of Polaroids. We went back to the dance floor when they had Kylie Minogue playing. Dancing with our personal disco ball over our head (handheld), we dance so hard, I didn’t realise my mobile was vibrating in my pocket until I saw someone on her mobile. KL was picking me up at 5.

The last I remembered, Claire and I was dancing to Madonna’s Celebration and we left the venue. Fifi was waiting for me outside and Claire walked back to office to get her luggage to go to the airport.

Came home, showered, and slept at 6pm until 10pm. Woke up, had KFC, watched a movie on the computer and went back to bed.

Thank goodness, I didn’t wake up with a headache today. Must be my fabulous ponstan.

Presents before Xmas

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

There is about 4 more days to Christmas. I have received some presents so far. Starting with the first gift.

countryrdbag.jpg

Co gave me this for Christmas before she left for holiday. Although I wasn’t suppose to open the present till Monday, I’ve already used it last Friday. Hah! It’s great, I thought about buying this Country Road bag some time ago, but even the discounted price didn’t tempt me. Price - $79.95

112046mu_lg.jpg

The ‘Focus’ People at work gave me this present. I feel bad because, I gave them some really cheap/free presents today and they went out to get me this Witchery pink leather clutch bag. I had planned to give them their gifts tomorrow so that they didn’t have to go out to get me anything but unfortunately (fortunately for me), one of the boys will not be coming in tomorrow, therefore, I distributed the gifts today. Price - $89.95

gingerbread house 001.jpg

My boss gave me a box of gingerbread house, he bought from Ikea. I am suppose to put the pieces together and then decorate it. See the instruction?

gingerbread house 003.jpg

Then a client came by and dropped of some Top grade Vietnamese Coffee and even a packet of unusual Lotus Tea.

haighs.jpg

Just before I left for home, Brad pop by my desk and told me to look into my colleague’s drawer after he walk away. The silly boy bought me a tin of good Haighs Chocolate. I suspect its about $15.

It’s been good and I’m happy with my presents so far. Its everything I love and would really use, except the gingerbread house.

Christmas Tree 06

xmas tree 06.jpg

Oh, last Monday, we bought a Christmas tree from Borders. Yes, of all places, we bought the tree and deco there. I think we spent less than $15 on the whole tree. We are still looking for that perfect star to top the tree.

Hope next year’s tree would be better. And more real.

Xmas Parcel

19Dec06 008.jpg

I love receiving parcels from home, especially Daddy’s. Well, he is the only one that sent me parcels anyway. Whats great is that, I don’t really know the contents of the parcel. To be honest, it usually contains junk. Hahaa.

Dad’s parcel came in time for Christmas, although I know that there is really no present for me, it was still exciting opening the parcel.

This time, the junk consist of mainly freebies that my dad thinks would be ideal for my colleagues at work. Good also, I don’t have to spend much money trying to make friends.

Limors & Borat

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

We have been hanging out with CT and CT. They are our only couple friends who we can honestly hang out in long stretch of time without being bored.

We’re already been doing weekly double date dinners with the CTs

Last Friday, we made a reservation for dinner at Limors. KL and I went there about 5 years ago when we first came to Melly. We had the BBQ Platter.

Limors platter.jpg

Yes, we nearly died. The 4 of us can’t even finish it.

Limors salad.jpg

It came with a bowl of salad and a plate of fries, which we barely touch.

We decided that it is good training for this coming week’s Christmas BBQ. CT ordered about 1/5 of a cow. Seriously!

Limors dessert.jpg

Oh, we since we all had separate stomach for dessert, we ordered the dessert special - ‘Death by Chocolate’. There was near death, I say.

After the huge dinner, we caught Borat at the movies. Laughing with a full stomach is no joke.

sneaker.jpg

Some friend of ours was in town and we met the group for Yum Cha. Because, they were bad at organising, the brunch became Lunch. So with time to kill, we went to the NGV for the Sneakers: Classics to Customs exhibition. It was interesting to hear that KL used to own some of those nerdy shoes.

Anyway, we walked around the weekend market. Sometimes it’s nice to walk around places you have not been for a long time.

soaps.jpg

As there was a lot of stalls with signs that prohibit photography, I only managed to take this nice picture of soaps made in yummy cupcakes shaped.

waffles.jpg

Naturally we got hungry before lunch and had this 2 for $3 waffles with sweet corn in it.

It was an uneventful Yum Cha session with the group. I think CT and me has grown quite distance from the rest. I think, they still need to grow up a little more. There is only this much drinking, smoking, pill-popping, wasting parents money and sleeping around to be done before you realise that you are an adult now and you are responsible for yourself. *sigh…

tropicana.jpg

After splitting from the group, KL and I went shopping and before we head home, we went to Tropicana Juice Bar for some refreshing juice.

dress1.jpg

Oh, I wore a spring dress today. Feels so girlie!

44%

Friday, December 15th, 2006

I got my registration on Tuesday, ran to tell my boss and informed the HR at the same time. Got my letter from the HR regarding my mini pay raise on Wednesday. Saw it reflect (pro-rated) in my bank account yesterday. Spent some of that today.

Everyone knows I’m underpaid (including the HR), so this pay raise if more like a justified/deserved pay raise than anything. Of course, I can impress people by telling them that less than 10 months since I join the company, I was given a 44% pay raise.

Anyway, I refused to knowledge my pay raise until I actually saw the money in my bank account. Call me a pessimist, but I’m just realistic.

So, got my 44% pay raise yesterday but guess what? I brought work home. First day I get paid in my new pay, I had to bring work home. It gets better… Second day (today), my boss left for home before me. I don’t want to think what is install for me in the coming weeks/months.

Oh, I think KL is going to increase my rent money. Yes, my husband makes me pay rent.

Friends Leaving

Friday, December 8th, 2006

I dread going to work today. Firstly, because I’m swamped with work. Secondly, I think I’m probably PMS-ing too. Lastly, I’ve recently “lost” 3 friends at work.

Tass quit on Wednesday to join our competitor in Jan. She is probably somewhere in BKK now enjoying her time with her family and doing loads of shopping. I lost my lunch buddy and source of office gossips.

SHE left to go to our office in Perth. This is really significant for our department and dramatic for me. I lost my friend, confidant and mentor - all rolled in one motherly package. *sigh…

Yesterday, I cried 3 times. Once when SHE was giving her farewell speech in the office. Second time, farewell lunch and then the third time, when she was really leaving and we refused to release ourselves when we were hugging. *sob! Thinking about it makes me emotional.

Co is leaving tomorrow to go back to SunnyLand for a month of Dec. She’s excited about it because she haven’t seen her family and dog for over 10months. I’m happy for her but I’ll be lonely with absolutely no buddy at work.

So I guess I only have my boring husband to play with and back to our lonely, mundane and uneventful life.

Farewell Lunches

Wednesday, December 6th, 2006

I’ve been fully booked for lunch this whole week, of which 2 are farewell lunches. Today was Tass. This thai girl I befriended with a few months ago and have weekly lunch with. Btw, I’m appalled with my company. How they treat staff, rather, how they ignore staff.

Tomorrow will be SHE’s last day before she head to perth. *sigh… thats another story. I’ve been toying with the thought of going to Perth to join her. But, not at the meantime.

Oh, I told my manager the other day that I am not making anymore new friends because they keep leaving. Guess what, I made 3 friends today. A boy from Chile, a viet girl and a jap guy who turned out to be a friend’s friend’s cousin. *sigh… are they going to leave soon? Hope not.

Stupid Postal

Tuesday, December 5th, 2006

I’m quite upset that my dad’s present has been lost in the mail. We bought a electronic sudoku game on flight on board the plane, on our way back to melly. We sent it on the 8 Nov and until today, he hasn’t received it.

Dad is convinced that the mail man took it because I had to declare it as “Electronic Game”. I don’t know what to think about it.

I called us the post office here to see if there is anything I can do on my end, but since its not registered, there is nothing they can do.

Yu-U

Monday, December 4th, 2006

yu-u.jpg

We had our “Hot Date” at Yu-U tonight. Its very popular and elusive so I booked it a couple of months ago and nearly forgot about it.

I think the food is alright. Fine dinning (aka small portion), so we had to keep ordering. We had yakitori (including chicken skin, chicken liver and chicken giblet), waggu beef, gyoza, salmon salad, grilled king fish head, grilled salmon, grilled calamari. Still it wasn’t enough to fill our expanded tummy, we ordered a grilled rice roll (it came in triangle shaped) to share. Come on, we need our carbo. Oh, and I had green tea ice cream and KL had black sesame ice cream.

The bill came up to about $120+. I don’t really mind going there again, but pre-booking way ahead is such a chore.

Btw, I finally tried Umeshu and I’m LOVING IT!

fishing 031206 002.jpg

We got up at 7am on a Sunday morning to go fishing at Gunnamatta Beach.

fishing 031206 008.jpg

It was cloudy when we arrived and then poured for a good 30 mins. KL’s shoe was completely soaked.

We brought anti-pasti, dips, crackers and even hot water for tea/coffee in our cool thermos flask.

fishing 031206 019.jpg

We caught nothing in that 3.5hrs. Reason? Waters too rough.
