We decided to get away from the city on our wedding anniversary. So off to Sorrento we went. We stayed at Rockpool Villa, since we’ve stayed here before previously.

Last time we stayed in the first cottage, this time we asked for the inner one as it has more privacy.

Some pictures of how the inside of the cottage look like.

Balcony.
On our way there, there were many small seaside towns and at Rye, there was a market so we stopped to have a look.

Saw this and thought it was really funny.

Funnier part was, I saw this at the carpark near the pier the next day. Obviously, the stupid man was feeding the birds from his car. I saw a lot of birdshit on top of his car. Stupid!

Oh, at the market we saw this too. Pet food in all sorts of native animal. Kangaroo tail, etc.

Should have gotten this for Mumbles or Bailey, but thought it was pretty gross.
Okay, so we explored Sorrento town. Basically, we went shopping. Bought nothing though so we went to the pier to see people fishing for squids. Got back to the cottage, shower, got hungry and went to Smokehouse Sorrento for dinner. Didn’t expect it to be so damn crowded, so without a reservation, we sat at the counter near the window.

KL ordered this potatoes - Latin fries. YUMMY!!!

We ordered Seafood Pasta to share. It was not bad except that it need a lot of salt. Well, towards the bottom of the bowl, it got more ‘giam’ coz I should have mixed it well in the beginning.

KL ordered the smoked salmon with capers woodfired pizza. Also damn good.

Serving a little small so we had chocolate pudding for dessert. When back to the cottage and comatosed.
Next morning, we grilled our bacon and eggs for breakfast in the balcony with our portable gas stove and ikea frying pan. And went out exploring.

Thats KL trying to take pictures of the cliffs near the sea.

There were lots of starfish like this all over the beach. Had to be really careful not to step on them.

And KL on top of the cliff posing for me. Might use this for my office wallpaper.

Anyway, after our exploration, we went back to the town trying to get a proper fishing gear for squid-ing (fishing for squids), but didn’t find anything appropriate. So, we used our own fishing rod (yes, we brought it along) and headed to the pier again. The same Italian couple yesterday was there again today. We chatted with them yesterday and today. They caught almost 20 squids in that 1 and half hour they are there the day before. So, its our turn to try our luck.
As it got darker, we still didn’t catch anything, while the couple already caught about 14 squids. The nice chatty Italian lady took our bucket and gave us 2 squids before they left. She said, “My mama always said that if you didn’t share, you will choke to death.” Woah, serious man! She even gave us specific instructions not to eat them tonight. We had to fill the bucket with salt and water so that the “calamari” will double in size. We went back that night to began our experiment.

This picture was taken before the salt water experiment. We forgot to take a picture of the after. Yes, it did double the size. However, preparing to cook it on Tuesday night was a nightmare coz the sotongs were slimey. I think it could be the salt water treatment it had. Nevertheless, it was yummy. We grilled it and had it with salad.
The last night we decided not to go out for dinner, so we cooked instant noodles with egg, grilled sausages and ate it with canned tuna. I love it. Feels like camping but with proper tables and chairs.
Now, if only we can afford a holiday home there.
