Cankles

cankles1.jpg

I’m back here in Sunnyland since Thursday. The weather was pretty alright for the first day but its been so hot and humid lately, my feet is so damn swollen that I have no ankles. I don’t know where the calves ends and the ankles begin.

I’m at my 25th week now and I have been eating very well since I came back 3 days ago. Hence, tummy is a little bigger and will probably gain much more weight here. BS, NL and GL reckons I look different - in the face. I agree I am looking more bloated and puffy in the face. But I think it’s the water retention.

Been taking it easy lately with food and shopping. Although, I have already bought quite a bit of baby clothes and products. Baby stuff here is definitely cheaper and we might get more necessities.

Baby has been behaving himself very well although I still don’t sleep as well at night due to unfamiliar environment and frequent trips to the toilet. It’s very strange how I have been sleeping in the same room and same bed for a long time and now I’m so not used to it. Waking up to go toilet has been so frequent, it’s annoying when it seems like I have a full bladder, I only managed to pee a wee bit.

Met one of KL’s friends at Parkway today and I am very surprised he told him with pride that I’m expecting. It’s such a nice feeling.

Went dinner with BS and NL today at Jumbo Seafood. The food is good and with some discount voucher - damn cheap too. I have to say that my new love is ‘Prawns fried with Salted Eggs’. Best!

Wonder what we going to do tomorrow.

06 Oct 2007 - Homecoming

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

Okay, it’s been chaotic. AND, its only the first day.

Last night, Aunty Lily and Cousin Sharon came with my parent to the airport to pick us up. Packed like sardines into her very nice and spacious Merc, we went Oasis for Taiwan porridge. I was melting in the heat and starting to smell like gym gear but they insisted going there as it is probably the last time we’ll go there. They are demolishing the place. I had my ‘kong bak’ and very raw ‘hum’, I didn’t care. Cousin Sharon was talking a lot - to me. I just nodded and food and didn’t remember what she said.

Then home, showered and off to the kopitiam to meet BS and NS. Guess what. I ordered fishball noodles. Hahaaa. PIG!

Today, we got up, went to the market to meet GL and BS(again) for our usual annual breakfast meeting. Lucky the market was too noisy, else we could have heard NL snoring in her sleep (too early for her). BS gave me some local magazine which was perfect for catching up on local gossip. KL reads them in the toilet. *roll eyes*

Anyway, first stop, Parkway of course. Errands to run, bank book to update and close, shoes needs to be repaired, etc.

Then we saw lots of food at the ground floor.

KONG BAK!!!

We met my parents and BS/NL joined us and we ate at Crystal Jade. There, we had our first pork leg. Its 5 spice pork leg but it stinks. My parents took my shopping bag and when home while we continue our shopping.

Ice kachang was most welcoming in the really hot humid afternoon. Managed to catch a bus back only to be “caught” by KL’s parents in the bus. OOPS!

Saw neighbours hanging their stuff toys. So cute:

I miss my neighbourhood. Been there for nearly 28 years of my life. This is my humble block:

My favourite banana (some local malay banana that I can’t get in Melly):

That night, we had a quiet dinner with my parents at the market. Assam fish head was the main attraction. I don’t know how we managed to order ‘n+3′ and finished it all. Its very scary when my dad orders.

Walking back from the market, I had to get something. To standby. Just in case I get hungry at night.

Ash Wednesday

church

I went church alone today after work. It’s funny how I remembered that it was Ash Wednesday all on my own.

A little sian because if I intend to go meatless again for Lent, I will have to postpone it till my parents leaves. But, I’m sure I can think of another abstinence.

Tulipfarm2.jpg

Yesterday we went to Tesselaar Tulip Festival. Again, we woke up late and rushed out of the house to get there.

The last time I went there, it was 2 years ago. I thought the last time was better, probably coz it was less crowded and more rows of tulips. Plus, this time round, there were a huge group of fucking tourists.

Okay, took lots of picture but the one above is simply my favouritest. I am pretty pretty and not fatty fatty.

Oh, after leaving the place, we chanced upon this park with hundreds of birds (mainly cuckatoo) and there were many people feeding them.

The picture don’t do justice to the amount of birds in the area. KL was of coz tigger happy.

Hiatus

Due to exhaustion and stress from working full time and studying, I’m going to go into hiatus till mid of July.

31 Jan

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

I always think that the actual end of the year is today. Where we have one whole month to come to terms that the previous year has ended and a new one just begin. For some, still trying to carry out the new year’s resolution are slowing losing determination. Also, all the alcohol in the system from the Xmas, NY and other public hols in January should be out of the system by today.

So, I declare tomorrow the start of 2006

Weather Report

Saturday, December 31st, 2005

After shower, it’s a nudist colony at home. But, I think 2 person not considered colony. KL says its more like “Planet of the Apes”. Hahaa…

Blowing in the Fan

Saturday, December 31st, 2005

Last night’s news reported to expect a high of 42 degrees. Immediately after that, we went out to purchase a decent powerful fan for ourselves. After trying 2 Kmarts, 2 Targets, Myers and David Jones, we came out empty handed. All the fans are completely sold out!!! Can you imagine the shelves completely bare? We are so going die of heat stroke we thought to ourselves.

When we woke up this late morning in our puddle of sweat, we decided that we have to try other places for a fan. So after lunch, we were on our hunt again. We stopped by this place that sells electrical goods and there was lots of fans still unsold, but KL insist that we could probably get a cheaper one in Target. So off we went to the Target, which is only a street away. Again, the shelves were cleared with only a pathetic miniture fan (the sort you would find in a taxi in SunnyLand). So, off to the electrical shop again. To our horror, all the fans were sold out. I swear it’s only been like 20mins. Lucky for us, the display fan was available and for a shocking price of $20. WooHOOO~!!!

Ahh… I’m now relaxing with a cold beer and my new fan blowing in my face.

By the way, it’s been reported that some parts here are at a scorching heat of 44 degrees. We are not going out. We’re going to stay put in front of our fan.

Men Theory

Tuesday, December 20th, 2005

I can’t remember who told me this. The theory is that men who have sister(s) treats women better.

Strangely, I totally agree. Of coz, there are a couple of exceptional.

*plonk

Friday, December 9th, 2005

There is a lack of post and pictures lately because my life hasn’t been interesting. I wake up every morning only to plonk myself at the computer to check any jobs online. It takes a whole day because I also visit individual company’s website to see if they have any opening. I only stop occassionally for lunch and Oprah on TV.

With BS in Indonesia, GL in India and NL busy at work, I have no one to talk nonsense with.

*sigh…

Toilet Paper Heaven

Chicken Rice

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2005

KL and I decided to make chicken rice over the weekend with association to the theme of ‘Homesickness’. The chicken was nice and tender but the rice was too dry - I think we were too health conscience and didn’t put much oil.

*Pics of the ingredients:

-Frozen Pandan Leaves from “Cock on the Mountain Top”. Hehee… I don’t have the luxury of buying fresh Pandan Leaves here.

-Nice Plump Naked Chicken begging for mercy - “Please, don’t eat me!

-KL cutting ginger - check out the bag of chicken skin in the background. Best way to eat them is deepfried of course.

-Boiling water with garlic and ginger for the chicken.

And, the final product!

Soiled Fingers

Thursday, August 4th, 2005

Couple of weeks ago, on the way to the City on the tram, the Australian Police called my mobile and I was not prepared for the phone call because I was busy digging coins to pay for my tram fare. So, shocked and trying to juggle coins and my mobile, I repeated my conversation on the tram(pretty loudly I think). Imagine eveyone staring at me when I said, “Hello?… Who is this calling?… Har?… Australian Police? …What time should I come tomorrow?… Great!… See you there.” Hahaa…

Actually, for immigration purpose I have to do my fingerprinting at the
police station and had to make appointment. My appointment was actually on
the 28 July but they suddenly got slots so asked me if I can come on friday
instead. Hehee…

So friday, I went out with KL and made my own way to the police station. Wah lau…so ulu the police station …and I had to walk so far somemore. But it was fun. I had to finger print every finger including my palms and even the sides of my palms. Damn Messy!! But I was clever, I brought my make up remover wet tissue so I could remove the ink better.

After that I had no idea how to do back to the City and I simply refused to go back the same dodgy way I came from. I walked to the nearby tram stop and asked if the tram brings me back to the city. I took the free City Circle Tram and past by Docklands. I pretended to be a tourist and trigger happy my fingers became.

Gosh…I took nearly 5 minutes trying to figure out how to open a ‘Child-proof’ cough medication bottle.

P/S: I’ve officially started lying about my age as of today.

End of Honeymoon

Monday, October 11th, 2004

I’m in Melbourne…freaking hot man. Just came back from Sorrento at Mornington Peninsula. We stayed 3 days 2 nights. *sigh…feels like honeymoon. Lazing in bed everyday, going out to see sunsets….watching the locals fishing…

“MY BEST FRIEND GETTING MARRIED!! I DON’T CARE!!”

Monday, October 4th, 2004

It’s been a long time since GL, BS and me hung out, so we arranged an impromtu ‘Sandwich Party’ at BS’s place on Saturday. With stuff brought from home as well as BBQ chicken from Cold Storage, we had a great time.

After dinner and fruits, we settled in front of the TV with the Sri Lankan tea I brought. We watched ‘EuroTrip’ DVD and laughed really loudly. We talked about going on a road trip the 5 of us - BS & NL, GL, KL & me. We decided to do a Australian trip in June, hopefully after the wedding. Boy, I really not sure if it’s such a great idea coz although we have been friends for over a decade, we can get into each other’s nerve. Hahaa…

Today, GL texted me and told me that she told her boss that she needed to get about a 2 weeks leave in June 2005. At first, her boss was relectant because it was really crucial time for her. Then GL went hysterical, “MY BEST FRIEND GETTING MARRIED!! I DON’T CARE!!” Haha….then, she was granted a 10 days leave. That text message made me jumped with joy with tears dwelling in the corner of my eyes.

When I was in Sri Lanka, GL text me in the middle of my important meeting. It read - ‘ I miss you. Come back soon.’ Gosh, I was only in Sri Lanka for 4 days. When I was in Melbourne 2 years ago and stayed there for about nearly 3 months, I see BS and GL nearly everyday online. I even spoke to them on the telephone more often than my parents.

Hello, I’m home!

Tuesday, September 21st, 2004

Hello, I’m home!

Finally

Saturday, September 18th, 2004

It took me nearly 4hrs to pack because I couldn’t focus. I kept pausing to chat online. hahaa…okay, anyway, just finished….I can’t believe I didn’t over pack. Geez, maybe I did coz it’s only a 4 days work trip. Still have space for my teddy. Hmmm…..

Biz Trip
