Across the Universe with Baby

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

Been watching a whole lot of movies lately to keep myself occupied while KL is away. Today, I watched “Across the Universe

It’s a musical without the cheesiness. I believe it’s all Beatles music. It’s so nice. The music is familiar and the story line blends so smoothly with the music without trying. There is no sudden burst into music sort. It is really quite subtle. The whole show is about 2+ hours.

I’ve also love music from the 70s. I think the Baby loves music too. Since I woke up, I had my itunes really loud and the Baby’s moving a lot. Throughout the movie, he moved whenever there is music. I think he is dancing.

I’m so convinced he is a music lover. He loves especially when there is guitar playing or drums. I think he might be a emo guitarist. I sure hope not a drummer coz I don’t want to imagine him practising his drums.

August Rush

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

I just finished watching “August Rush“. It so beautiful.

Might be the hormones but I’m still crying.

It’s honestly such a beautiful movie. I am going to watch it again.

Goodnight Moon

GoodnightMoon.jpg

Recently ordered this classic book from amazon - Goodnight Moon. Apparently, it is recommended everywhere I’ve researched.

It’s a really old book. The picture of the author look like a character in “I love Lucy” and also is in black and white. The pages are like those jotterbook material.

The story… err.. there is no story. It’s just a book that says goodnight to everything in the room. It’s seriously damn boring.

The illustration in the book is poor but colourful.

But, I love the book! Really love the book. I have been reading the same book to Baby every night since last week. It’s so simple and easy to read. It’s definitely a book to be read at bedtime.

Tummy Stories

Friday, March 28th, 2008

KL have been reading and singing nursery rhymes to the baby in my tummy lately.

book wombat

book koala
Tuesday: He read, “Koala Lou”.

Wednesday: He sang this KoalaLand inspired nursery rhyme:

Row row row your boat;
Gently down the stream.
If you see a crocodile;
Don’t forget to scream….
AAHHHH!!

book Heffalump
Thursday: He read, “Pooh’s Heffalump”.

book seuss
Friday (Today): He should be reading, “Oh, the places you’ll go.” I don’t know the story yet. It’s my first Dr Seuss book.

That’s all the children’s book we have. I think KL got to read the papers tomorrow.

The Phantom of the Opera

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

We went to watch The Phantom of the Opera. I have been waiting to watch the musical for the longest time, the last time I went to watch was at Kallang Theatre with Mark, a guy who was interested in me. Since then, I have been longing for the musical again.

I’ve been a big fan of the Phantom of the Opera for the longest time. I remember when Aunty Ann asked what I wanted for Christmas, I said I wanted the Double disc. And I still have that. The original one with Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford.

Anyway, I was so so excited since they announced that they were coming. I have been looking forward to the date on our tickets. They were very strict about photography so I only managed to get a few pictures.

This was what we saw when we first sat down with anticipation.

During the interval before I got told off to stop taking pictures.

And, that famous chandelier before it crashed.

I was glued to the stage, the music and the set. I sang along with almost every song like a retard. And most of all, I’m happy that KL love it. We’re going to watch it again. I hope we’ll manage to get the last show.

Full House drama

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

fullhouse

Since KL left for Vegas on Thursday, I have been keeping myself busy with VCDs that my dad brought from home.

I started watching “Full House”, a korean drama on Thursday night coz I couldn’t sleep. I cried until cannot cry everynight. I hate korean dramas, always make it cry. But it’s so addictive!

Last night I slept at 1.30am because I wanted to watch the last disc. Its amazing that I spent 5 days to watch 16 disc (about 1hour each). No surprise that I woke up with a puffy eyes again. My boss thinks I’m still unwell.

I’m not starting a new korean drama although I have a couple of more shows. I’m giving myself a break today. Giving myself a break from crying everynight and waking up looking like shit. Besides, I’ve ran out of tissue paper and using toilet paper roll instead.

Been trying to finish this TVB serial. Too much backstabbing and bitchiness for me to handle. But good for me to revise my cantonese - just in case I have to bitch with my client?!?

Hahaa…

NO!!! We lost Speedo already! We can’t lose Eric!

Superman Returns

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006

We were watching Superman Returns and I came up with a few bad jokes.

“When Superman have sex, is it fast as a bullet?”

Qns: “Superman’s weakness is Kryptonite. What is Batman’s weakness?”
Ans: “Batman’s weakness is Robin”

Okay, I think this show is damn value for money. It has Batman (Gotham City was mentioned) and X-men (Cyclops).

I still don’t get it, wear glasses look like a different person already?

Sickie

Friday, September 8th, 2006

Okay, I confess… I chucked a sickie today. AND… I convinced KL to stay home with me.

Yes, I’m the devil. But, I really had bad cramps today.

We watched lot of shows today:

- Bride and Prejudice - on my gawd, so many dancing and singing!!
- Slither - Wah Lau! I can’t believe I watched and enjoy screaming this B-grade show
- Transamerica - Did Felicity Huffman get an oscar for her performance? She’s really good.
- The Shaggy Dog - Wholesome Children show. Need I say more?
- Yours, Mine, Ours - Another wholesome Disney show.

Movie Night Everynight

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

We have been watching a whole lot of movies lately.

- Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (more like Keira Knightley’s non-existence chest)

- The Pink Panther (hilarious slapstick, no brain required)

- Inside Man (usual bank robbery storyline but no one was hurt)

- The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (not too impressed. Thought that the CG is too stale)

- Taepung (Korean movie) (supposed to be the most expensive movie, maybe for hiring translators)

- The Notebook (romantic tear jerking show. I couldn’t stop crying for the rest of the night)

- Grilled (strange show and rather fustrating)

- Everything is Illuminated (KL read the book, I didn’t. Interesting movie tho)

- Nanny McPhee (love this kids show. Happy ending made me cry)

Tim Burton

Saturday, December 3rd, 2005

We went to watch a movie on Tuesday. I think it’s KL’s way of making up for spending too much time in his World of Warcraft. Anyway, we decided to watch ‘Corpse Bride’. I have been waiting for Tim Burton (stop-motion feature film) animation for a long time since ‘Nightmare before Christmas’.

I think I probably started noticing Tim Burton’s work since I first saw Beetle Juice. I thought it was the most hilarious show ever. Until this day, I still remember that guy with a small head on a big body sitting at the doctor’s office. Hehee…

I should say that my all time favourite would have to be ‘Edward Scissorhands’. Maybe it’s Johnny Depp, maybe I’m just a hopeless romantic. But I truly think that without Danny Elfman, the attraction to the show would have to be different.

I probably watched all of Tim Burton’s show from Beetle Juice onwards, except ‘Ed Wood’ & ‘Planet of the Apes’. I do agree with some reviewers that Tim Burton’s Batman was a little too dark for the normal public but any comic reader would tell you that the Batman comic IS Dark. It’s not some Batman cartoon with Robin in hot pants and all that “POW”, “POOF…etc.. I also don’t agree with some reviewers that ‘Mars Attack’ was one of his worst work. Mars Attack is suppose to be like that - B grade. Laugh in the movies and move on.

My Tim Burton obsession stopped at purchasing ‘The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy : and Other Stories (Hardcover version)’. It was expensive at MPH, but one just have to own it, you know?

I leave you with this quote from Corpse Bride:

With this hand I will lift your sorrows.
Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine.
With this candle, I will light your way into darkness.
With this ring, I ask you to be mine.

Dirty Flamingos

Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

Over the weekend, we watched ‘A Dirty Shame’ by John Waters. I really don’t know how to describe the show, but it’s definately B-grade. Okay, maybe a couple of words: distasteful, crude, repulsive but somewhat entertaining.

Of course I knew what I was in for, before watching the show. Many donkey years ago, I remember KL brought home John Waters’ ‘Pink Flamingos’. He watched it with HK, thinking the turd part of the show was hilarious. I didn’t enjoy the show. It was revolting. I fell asleep. Whatever. Maybe one needs to get high to enjoy the kind of show.

Honestly, I won’t pay money to watch it in the movies but if I have the DVD and I’m bored, I might watch it though. I know, it’s some arty farty cult film. Who cares!

Hairy Pothead

Tuesday, July 19th, 2005

Damn it! NL finished reading already! And she is irritating me abt the ending!!!

ARGH!!!

Hairy Pothead

Tuesday, July 19th, 2005

We went DFO on Saturaday and chanced upon the Half Blood Prince selling at $22.45. I knew that the new Harry Potter book would be expensive (abt $40+) so we didn’t wanna buy it until we saw this great deal.

NL refused to purchase it at such high price but since we got NL so addicted to Harry Potter series, she read nearly 1/3 of the book at a bookshop while waiting for BS last night. Hehee… even faster than me. Anyway, KL told me that they already have the pdf version online, I told NL about it. Guess what. She’s reading on her computer at work now.

It’s pretty cool coz I’m eating lunch (scallop porridge) while reading my book and discussing with NL online. It’s kind of fun coz I’m pretty blur and can’t remember much details and I can always ask her. Hehee…I’m really having fun right now.

Bookworm

Sunday, August 29th, 2004

I finally finished ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time’ on Saturday. Easy to read and not too bad, except I thought that the ending of the book was kind of sudden.

I bought 2 more books today - ‘The Melacholy Death of the Oyster Boy & Other Stories’ & ‘ The Alchemist’. I finished reading ‘The Melacholy Death of the Oyster Boy & Other Stories’ . I Love Tim Burton’s work. He is such genius!

Buying ‘ The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho was really out of impulse.

Damn, I still have ‘The Catcher in the Rye’ half read.
